Urbanic, Frank. “Interview with Frank Urbanic, author of, We Were Prepared.” Personal Correspondence. 18 Mar. 2019.
How did the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts aid the American Red Cross during the event?
"Red Cross, in charge of disaster recovery, immediately told the telephone company to ask for help but “Above all, call the Scouts because they are prepared”."
Without the help of the scouts, do you believe that there would have been as many people saved from the disaster?
"Scouts were more involved in assisting the Red Cross, hospitals, law enforcement agencies in a support role."
Did the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts help Texas City recover in the months following the explosion?
"No, the U.S Army and the Red Cross had things under control."
The motto of the Boy Scouts is Be Prepared, but no one was prepared for the disaster. How were the scouts able to aid those in need?
"To the contrary John; Scouts WERE PREPARED and the Red Cross knew that they could be depended upon. My book goes into detail why we “were prepared”."
Do you know anyone else that we could contact to assist us in our research?
"I will be happy to send a signed, complimentary, copy of my book, We Were Prepared, to you."
